They look fabulous. Beautiful presentation.
Meet our lovely volunteer Karen! Karen has been an integral part of the Hospice Shop team since the day the shop opened in 2017.
On a Monday, you will find her restyling the mannequins, dressing the window displays and serving customers, a part of the job she finds very satisfying. Meeting a wide variety of people and hearing their stories is something she particularly enjoys.
If there is time, she disappears out the back and does some ironing. “Yes,” she says, “I actually enjoy ironing!”
“I feel privileged to be part of the shop team,” Karen says. “I absolutely love what I do! It’s so hard to put into words the feeling of being able to help people find the perfect dress, that special coloured plate, or a great pair of shoes.” ... See MoreSee Less
The Hospice knitting group has been busy making twiddle muffs! These are designed to give a person with dementia something to twiddle with. 🧶
The muffs provide a wonderful source of visual, tactile, and sensory stimulation and at the same time keep their hands warm.
Nola and Sharron recently visited the Radius Millstream Dementia Care Ward, to gift some of the twiddle muffs, as well as some amazing rugs made by Nola.
Jasmine Richardson, Activities coordinator at Radius Millstream really appreciated the gifts, as did residents Ian and Erna! ❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

It was so great to welcome Altrusa Ashburton members to the Hospice HQ recently. It was a good opportunity for them to have a tour of the building, and hear about the supports and services offered by Hospice Mid Canterbury. Thank you to Nola for suggesting the visit! ... See MoreSee Less
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who helped out and came along to our Garage Sale! We managed to raise over $700 to be used for the provision of on going services.
We are very grateful to everyone who contributed – the people who donated the goods, the volunteers who helped with the sorting, everyone who helped on the day and of course those who came to the sale and went home with a bargain! Turning second hand goods into first class care. ❤️❤️ We can't wait for our next one! 🤩 ... See MoreSee Less
